New Bronze Statue in Iraq...Enjoy
THIS IS GREAT! and something every American should see. Be sure to read the information below.....
This statue currently stands outside the Iraqi palace, now home to the
4th Infantry division. It will eventually be shipped home and put in the
memorial museum in Fort Hood,Texas.
The statue was created by an Iraqi artist named Kalat, who for years was
forced by Saddam Hussein to make the many hundreds of bronze busts of Saddam
that dotted Baghdad. Kalat was so grateful for the Americans liberation of his
country; he melted 3 of the heads of the fallen Saddam and made the statue as a
memorial to the American soldiers and their fallen warriors. Kalat worked on
this memorial night and day for several months.
To the left of the kneeling soldier is a small Iraqi girl giving the soldier
comfort as he mourns the loss of his comrade in arms. Do you know why we don't
hear about this in the news? Because it is heart warming and praise worthy.
The media avoids it because it does not have the shock effect that a flashed
breast or controversy of politics does. But we can do something about it. We can
pass this page along to as many people as we can in honor of all our brave
military who are making a difference. Thank you!!
I am looking for more stories about our service men and women. If you have any
that you would like to share, please email them to webmaster.
I also ask that you support our troops, especially those in foreign lands
fighting against tyranny and terrorism.
If you have a family member that is in the military overseas, please, show your
support through the Blue Star Program.
We had one in our window while my son was in Iraq. It kept us focused on him, and
helped put things in our daily life into perspective. It also reminded us and showed
others of how proud we were of him. He never knew it was there, because we had little
contact with him while he was away from us, but this Christmas while he was home we
showed him "his" Service Star Banner. He wants us to hold it for him so that he can
show it to his grandchildren that we hope will not see war. We pray that he can tell
them of how he fought in the last war.
Although it is not on display it remains within sight, and is a daily reminder to us to
thank God that our son is back safely and to pray for all those who still remain in harms
way in hostile foreign lands, making a better world.
